We all set off together on a beautiful day for
sailing. The ship was stocked with everything we needed. The
passengers aboard paid decent money to take this ride across the Great
Sea. Some of the passengers stayed up on the deck to work and keep
an eye on things. A few went down below to find a place to
rest. It wasn't long into the journey that a big wind began.
The waves got big, the thunder rolled in and the sky grew dark. It
was pretty scary as the ship was tossed about from side to side, and the
water rolled onto the deck. We started throwing our supplies over
the side of the ship to make it lighter. Maybe our anchor would hold if
we could just lighten the ship enough. Then one of the guys who
had been sleeping, came up on deck to see about all the commotion.
He raised his hands and nodded, as if he were to blame and excepting the
consequences. He told us that if we threw him overboard that the
seas would calm and the storm would end.
Who was this man ?
Do you know what happened next ?
