ONE EYED VALENTINE
CRAFT MATERIALS:
Scissors
Red card stock
Hole punch
Heavy red yarn (we used chenille)
Tacky glue
40-millimeter googly eyes
Markers
White paper or card stock
Time needed: About 1 to 2 Hours
1. Cut 1 large heart and 4 smaller ones (ours were 5 1/2 inches and
1 1/4 inches across) from the red card stock. Or use our template.
2. Punch 4 holes in the large heart and 1 in each of the smaller
hearts.
3. Cut two 12-inch lengths of yarn, then thread each piece in
through an armhole and out through a leg hole. Tie on the hands and
feet.
4. Glue on the googly eye, then draw on eyelashes and a smile.
5. Write your message on a small piece of the white paper, then glue
it to one of the hands.

VALENTINE GUPPIES
CRAFT MATERIALS:

Time needed: 30 Minutes or Less
1. From colored card stock or heavy construction paper, cut 2 large
heart shapes for the fish's body and 1 small one for the tail.
2. Glue together the 3 hearts to make a fish shape, as shown.
3. Use a paint pen or marker to write a message on the back, then
add a mouth and a googly eye to the front.

BUTTERFLY VALENTINES
CRAFT MATERIALS:
Card stock or cardboard (optional)
Pencil
Scissors
Construction paper
Colored card stock
Old-fashioned candy stick, in a wrapper
Pipe cleaner
Color-coding sticker dots
Using colored card-stock, cut out the butterfly,
make slits for candy stick, add some
decorations (cut out shapes of paper,
sticker dots, glitter, etc.), insert
candy stick and then wrap the pipe cleaner
around the top of the candy Add a piece
of tape to the back to keep the candy
stick securely in place.

BUTTERFLY 2 VALENTINE
With a body made of chewing-gum sticks and licorice-whip antennae, this valentine will be lucky to make it through lunchtime.
CRAFT MATERIALS:
Sticks of gum
Licorice strings
Construction paper
Scissors
Heart stickers
Tape
Time needed: Under 1 Hour
1. Place two pieces of string licorice between two sticks of gum,
taping the top and bottom closed to secure the antennae in place.
2. Next, cut two heart-shaped wings from construction paper, write
your valentine message on them, and secure them to the top stick of
gum with a heart sticker. Add other stickers to give personality to
your butterfly.

VALENTINE AIRPLANES
CRAFT MATERIALS:
Thin rubber band
Peppermint Life Savers
Smarties
Cinnamon gum
Heart-shaped stickers
Time needed: Under 1 Hour
1. Thread the rubber band through the holes of two Life Savers, then
balance the roll of Smarties between them, across the rubber band.
2. For wings, balance the stick of gum on top, perpendicular to the
Smarties, and pull the rubber band up and over each side of the gum
to hold it all in place.
3. Decorate the wings with tiny heart-shaped stickers or a message.
Tips:
If smaller fingers are having trouble with all that balancing and
stretching, have one person hold the candy in place while another
works the rubber band up and over the gum.

VALENTINE PENCIL TOPPERS
CRAFT MATERIALS:
Scissors
Craft foam
Permanent markers
Pipe cleaner
Pencil
Time needed: Under 1 Hour
1. Cut a 1- to 2-inch heart from craft foam. With a permanent
marker, print a short message on the front and the name of the giver
on back.
2. Now poke an inch of the pipe cleaner through the bottom of the
heart, bend it down, and twist it back around the remaining length
of pipe cleaner.
3. Coil the pipe cleaner tightly around the pencil. Then gently pull
up on the heart so that part of the coil bobs freely above the
pencil, with several loops anchored around the eraser end.

VALENTINE LOLLIPOPS
CRAFT MATERIALS:
Red and green construction paper or card stock
Scissors
Lollipop
Glue stick
Time needed: Under 1 Hour
1. From red construction paper, cut out a heart that's just larger
than the lollipop candy and glue it to the wrapper.
2. For the leaves, fold the green paper in half and cut out a leaf
shape, leaving the two sides attached at the seam.
3. Unfold the double leaf shape, coat the entire inside surface with
glue, and fold it back over the lollipop stem, pressing to secure.
Tips:
If you use cardboard templates, one child can trace and cut hearts
while another works on the leaves.
