THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WELL

Around the waterfall, to say there were all manner of flowers, is an understatement. And here is where Granma went bonkers. Ruffly irises on tall stately stalks, with blooms as big as dinner plates ! Hibiscus of every color and then some, also the size of frisbees. Deep purple tulips, so deep they looked black amid the light orange ones. (If you looked into one . . . that is another story for another time.) Hollyhock clumps as big around as well, the catepillar and as tall as the Mushroom Palace! Lilacs hung in purple, white, and pink perfumed clusters as big around as basketballs, all draping upon the ground. Dahlias of every color combination under the two suns, the size of quad tires! Tennis ball sized honey bees were carrying buckets of nectar with their hairy legs. Granma was so overwhelmed she just lay on the luscious green grass and rolled back and forth, mumbling.Did I mention the roses? The peonies? Ah! The violets with fuzzy leaves as big as two of your hands put together; their saucer-sized blooms practically covering the plant. "Honey Bees and Flowers" ![]() Click Here for Coloring Page
