Around the waterfall, to say there were all manner of flowers, is an understatement. And here is where Granma went bonkers. Ruffly irises on tall stately stalks, with blooms as big as dinner plates ! Hibiscus of every color and then some, also the size of frisbees. Deep purple tulips, so deep they looked black amid the light orange ones. (If you looked into one . . . that is another story for another time.) Hollyhock clumps as big around as well, the catepillar and as tall as the Mushroom Palace! Lilacs hung in purple, white, and pink perfumed clusters as big around as basketballs, all draping upon the ground. Dahlias of every color combination under the two suns, the size of quad tires!
