Julio worked like a mad man ~ er, little boy ~ and soon had the top part of his pinky-cream belly showing through. King Cat still did not wake up and kept on sawing logs. As soon as Julio would get him uncovered, they would start to pile up again. Granma and the fairies helped too. Even da Muff did her share; carrying a log or two to the hearth. They soon had an idea! Wow, why didn’t they think of that sooner! They would just wake him up and he would quit sawing logs! Righto! So they shook and they shook and they pinched and pulled and yelled in the holes in the sides of his head, which they thought were probably his ears, and FINALLY … he shook like a bowl of jello again and sputtered and spit out a tiny log. Then the sawing stopped. He squished & pulled & stretched & finally rolled over and all the logs fell off. He inched to the back of the mushroom without so much as a look at them or a thank you.
