An enormous heron-like bird stood in front of them, wings outspread in a threatening manner, blocking the path. The feathers on top of its’ back were a blue green color and you could see its pink and white chest, belly and under wings. From a crest on top of it’s head, a long peacock-like feather sprouted out and hung down onto it’s back. The bird critters’ mouth was open with some white fluff hanging out of it. Wonder who that was from? It looked as if it might bite them any minute, so the horses started backing up. With its huge, ostrich-like eyes and long eyelashes, the bird peered into them, looking the riders over and over and up and down. G & J saw now why the bird had gotten off its’ nest. It had been chasing da Muff no doubt, capturing a tuft of her hair in its mouth.
