Then all
of a sudden they started going down again and
they could see a golden light ahead. But after
going around a spiral, they could no longer
see the light; then it would show up again
on the next spiral. This happened about three
times. The air was getting warmer now and the
path even wider until there was a whole floor
spread out before them in what looked like
a large room or chamber. They couldn’t tell
if they were at the bottom of the mountain
or somewhere up in the middle. Maybe when they
came to a spiral window, they could look out
and see. All around the edge of the chamber,
in a circle, were tall columns of pink crystallized
quartz. The golden light was coming from a
room up ahead. Muff was at the door now and
her white fur looked golden in the light.
G & J pulled up to the door, but the light
was too bright at first for their eyes or the horses. "Should
we get off and go have a look-see?" asked
G. "Well, this is an adventure, so yeah, let’s
go," said Julio. They got off the horses (Granma
on one of the white rocks that jutted up out of
the floor.) After their eyes grew accustomed to
the golden light, they gasped in awe. They were
inside a burial ground with green crystal
transparent coffins stacked six high along the
walls. "These musta been tall people … or
.. creatures … to stack coffins that high, " says
J. Boy, was he a smarty pants. "Yep,
you’re right. They would have to be unless they
used something to get them up there." said G.
